Robotic welding cells

Automatizované svařovací buňky

Automated welding cells represent a modern solution for industrial manufacturing that integrates industrial robots into an enclosed space to enable efficient and precise welding. These systems significantly increase productivity, ensure consistent weld quality, and enhance workplace safety, making them suitable for repetitive tasks as well as small-batch production.

KEY FEATURES OF THE SOLUTION

Key components of the automated cell:

  • Industrial robot/robotic arm: The main component that performs the movements (e.g., Fanuc).
  • Welding power source and torch: Equipment corresponding to the welding method (MIG/MAG, TIG, laser).
  • Positioner (rotary table): Allows new parts to be loaded on one side while the robot welds on the other, eliminating downtime (two-station operation).
  • Safety features: Fencing, light curtains, and safety sensors protecting the operator from radiation and flying particles.
  • Torch cleaning station: Automatically cleans the torch of spatter.
  • Welding fixtures: Clamping systems for securing parts.

Advantages of automated welding

1. Increased productivity and quality: Robots operate continuously (24/7) with high precision and repeatability, thereby minimizing scrap rates and the need for repairs.
2. Reduced labor costs: A single operator can manage multiple welding cells.
3. Increased safety: Operators are not exposed to welding fumes, heat, and radiation.
4. Flexibility: Modern cells can be easily reprogrammed for different product types, enabling efficient production even for smaller batches (e.g., batch size 1).

Examples of Applications and Technologies

  • Aluminum welding: Use of TIG or laser methods, often in the automotive industry.
  • Pipe welding: Use of orbital welding for high quality.
  • Tank manufacturing: Automated welding of plastic or metal tanks.

Investment considerations

When deciding to purchase an automated cell, it is necessary to consider the return on investment, programming complexity, space requirements, and the need for precise preparation of the parts to be welded.
