Machine for flaring both pipe ends
ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT FOR FLARING BOTH PIPE ENDS
Name of contract: Flaring pipes
Term of delivery: 2019
SPECIFICATIONThe project was implemented at the customer’s request for new, additional equipment for flaring pipes, to be connected to the existing line for the manufacture and welding of pipes. Automation requirement.
SOLUTION – PARAMETERS
Line cycle: 8 sec / pc
DESCRIPTION OF THE AUTOMATED PROCESS
1. The pipes made with the current equipment drop into a crate, which after filling up must be hauled away by an operator. The pipes are then flared by hand.
2. Now the newly manufactured pipes slide through a gravity inlet chute and are transported to our new pipe flaring machine.
3. The manipulator transports and lifts the pipe to the height determined by the diameter of the pipe. Collets are then inserted into the pipe using a pneumatic cylinder to flare the ends of the pipe. Afterwards, the pipes slide into a pre-prepared crate.
BASIC CHARACTERISTICS
The equipment is designed as a standalone, automatic single-purpose machine, which is mechanically and electrically connected to the existing equipment for manufacturing the pipes. The pipes automatically fall from the of the pipes in the machine is done by means of a stepping conveyor. Flaring the ends of the pipes will be done simultaneously with extending the cylinders with the expansion cones into working position. Automatic ejectors will be used to remove the flared pipe from the cones at the same time as the cylinders are retracted to the starting position. Due to the different diameters of the flared pipes, the pipes are always lifted from the stepping conveyor by means of a prismatic bed to the appropriate height, depending on the diameter, and in this way the coaxiality of the pipe and cones is achieved. After flaring, the lifting beds are lowered automatically, the pipe will land on the stepping conveyor and after that be transported to the end of the machine, where it will be automatically ejected into the OK box.
Key benefits of our solution
- Eliminates work-related accidents from the manual flaring of pipes
- Saves time over the operator transferring and flaring the pipe ends
- Saves financial costs incurred for the manual work of employees
- Reduces scrap
- Uses an automatic machine for flaring various diameters and lengths of inlet pipes
